Kindergarten Information

For enrollment into kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year, your child must be 5 years old by August 31, 2025.
We are so excited to meet you and your child! We know this is an exciting time for your family. For some this may be your first experience in the public school system and we recognize that can be a little overwhelming. Our goal is to provide your child with the best start to their educational journey. Scroll below to get information on "Kindergarten Roundup" as well as our "Kindergarten Jump Start" opportunity.

Kindergarten Jump Start
DPE offers four days of “Kindergarten Jump Start.” This program, taught by DPE Kindergarten teachers, focuses on ensuring a smooth transition to kindergarten. Students will be provided with breakfast and lunch and bus transportation to and from school. Jumpstart will take place from August 18th to 21st from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m..
Some things to consider when preparing for the first day of Kindergarten are: Does your child know how to write their name? Can they cut out shapes with construction paper and scissors? Are they able to count to 20? Do they follow two-step directions? Would they know how to line up with 18 other children? Do they respond to their name when called? Will they raise their hand and wait their turn? Are they comfortable riding the bus? Do they need time and support to transition to full-day Kindergarten?
If you are interested in your child participating in this program, please fill out the following Google form. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Kristi Knapp in the office at 509-464-5606. Additional information will be sent out after we receive your submission. Please note your child will need their vaccinations completed along with a copy of a certified birth certificate before attending Jump Start.
The deadline for applications is May 31st, 2025
Kindergarten Roundup
We are inviting you and your child to Kindergarten roundup. We will be asking your child to complete a few basic tasks and will use this information to determine the best placement for your child. This ensures that they receive the necessary instruction to make them successful next year. Once we have built the classes, we will contact you with an additional time when we would like you and your child to come see their classroom, meet their teacher, and ask any questions you may have about the upcoming Kindergarten year.
We ask that you bring your child to the Elementary school on Monday, August 18th at the time listed to the right. We will meet with your child and give them a quick assessment that allows us to place them with a teacher. You will be notified of placement by Wednesday, August 20th once we get all the data collected.
