Congratulations to Rotary's Students of the Month, Adeline Russell and Liam Varang, who exemplify and inspire Deer Park excellence! Addie has been identified as a remarkable student academically, and her involvement in extracurricular activities. Having been a Deer Park student since pre-school, she found a passion in AgBiology and has since excelled in classes such as shop, floral design, and is currently the manager of the greenhouse. She is active in ASB and volunteers to support events such as Prom Spectacular. Her involvement in FFA has led her to state-level competitions in public speaking, showcasing her leadership and communication skills. Addie has also thrived in DECA and demonstrated proficiency in business and marketing. She also enjoys playing tennis. Addie received the Spokane Scholar Award for Social Studies and plans to attend Marquette's BioMed Science program to eventually become a doctor. From pre-school through high school, Liam has shown what it means to grow with gratitude and perseverance. He remains grateful for his journey and through the ups and downs. As a leader, he's served as class president and an ASB executive officer for four (4) years. He's also the Vice President of the DECA chapter and led efforts such as Night at the North Pole. His DECA team also advanced to the state level, showcasing his skills and heart. Liam has served over 75 hours of community service, is a member of Key Club, and works. Liam was voted "Most Inspiring" in tennis and band. His leadership journey continues outside of school as he has achieved the rank of Life Scout and is working toward Eagle Scout. He is still deciding on where to attend next year and believes his path will lead to nursing.

Congratulations to our Rotary student of the month, Katie Nelson! Katie isn't just involved; she excels. From leading the band as drum major and showing livestock in FFA, to achieving a blue belt in jujutsu and placing 3rd place in state wrestling, Katie does it all. Plus, she's dedicated 81+ hours to community service, is active in 4H, and finds time to help her grandparents. Additionally, Katie is a trapshooter and National Honor Society member! Her plans after high school? Katie plans to either earn her AA in Biology or head straight to WSU to study Animal Science (dairy & nutrition) while continuing their wrestling career. What an amazing example of dedication and passion! Way to go, Katie!

We are excited to share that the DPHS Band earned a "Superior" rating from all three judges at the Spokane Falls Community College Band Festival! Impressively, their performance would have qualified for a superior rating in the 3A/4A/Private School category as well. As part of their experience, students had the opportunity to participate in a clinic with Dr. Danh Pham, the Director of Bands at WSU and Music Director of the CDA Symphony. This was a valuable chance for our students to engage with an expert and deepen their musical skills. Our students showcased an incredible dedication to learning and becoming the best versions of themselves, and they represented Deer Park School District with pride and excellence. Congratulations to all the band members for their hard work and achievement!

Congratulations to our National Honor Society Seniors! The National Honor Society recognizes high school students who uphold these four principles or pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These students excel academically by maintaining a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA and demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning. They are leaders in their school and community by inspiring their peers through action and promoting positive change. These students often step outside of themselves to see and meet the needs of others. Character is the essence of who we are. By making the commitment to ethical and compassionate decision-making, these students positively impact themselves and all those around them to create a better world.
